We have a very special "Happy Tails" update to share today. This one hits close to home because Scout was one of the very first horses to join the Wandering Hearts Rescue family.
When she first arrived, her situation was dire. She was feral, terrified, starved, and pregnant. She had to fight for every scrap of survival before she walked through our gates.
Her journey wasn’t a quick fix. It took years of patient rehabilitation, medical care, and training to heal her body and, more importantly, convince her that humans could be trusted. She eventually blossomed into a stunning mare with a fantastic education under saddle.
But her story has found the perfect ending. She has been adopted by the most phenomenal human being who sees her for exactly who she is.
Here is the best part: Even though she is fully trained to ride, her new dad has no plans to ever put her to work. He adopted her simply to be herself. She has joined his family as a companion to his other two mares and is currently living the life of luxury.
She is being pampered, spoiled, and cherished in all the ways every horse should be—but especially one with a survivor’s story like hers.
Happy life, sweet girl. You made it. 🐴❤️✨

Wow, we have so much to say about Scout! She is vet aged 11, about 14.3 hands, goes nicely barefoot, is incredibly beautiful, and has an unlimited potential!
She spent the majority of her life in a horrific place, left to fight for every bit of food she managed to find, and she's a survivor!
Scout has an amazing work ethic and is looking for her forever human!
Scout is with Jeremy Anglin in Marshall, NC getting 60 days professional training. She is being riding extensively on the trails, out of the road, with other hoses and alone.
Jeremy has helped her gain confidence and on the ground with farrier work, and she absolutely loves attention.
Our trainer tells us he thinks she would be a fantastic endurance horse. She has the build, work ethic and demeanor. She would also make a great trail horse and camp horse as she trailered out last year for a 4-night camping trip and was a pro! With continued training the sky could be the limit for this pretty lady!
Contact us for more info if you're interested in adopting Scout and giving her the very best future!
Scout quietly rides out on the trails and roads.
